Both of them have the same goal, computing on the go, running the same OS, Windows 8 or probably other OS, and most importantly, they are sold at similar price, and they can do almost similar things.

Before considering a tablet or a touch screen laptop, you should also determine, what you are going to do mainly with the device. Tablet devices feature touch screen keyboard, and most of them don’t include keyboard dock, unless you are willing to spend extra money for them. Designed for more mobility, you need to use the on-screen keyboard, which I personally have issues on accuracy whenever typing on my screen. So tablets are not really for people who type a lot on their computers.
Touchscreen features on tablet devices are extremely easy to use. You can easily dragging and swiping your fingers to navigate your cursor, and to click, you can tap your screen easily, so it’s very different than typing.
And touch screen laptops have both feature, on-screen trackpad feature, and the physical one under the keyboard which usually located in the center of the laptop or can be slightly to the right or left of the laptop. Many of them also have two buttons to do left and right click.
Whether tablets or touchscreen laptops, they are expensive devices, which you should choose carefully based on your needs. After determining and narrowing down the features you really need, you will be able to decide between these two devices.
